What is Holistic Personal Training?

Having worked as a personal trainer for seven years, I've noticed a recurring pattern among my clients: they often arrive at our sessions exhausted from work, grappling with the day's stress, burnout, and lacking the energy needed for their workouts. I believe in addressing the root causes of these issues rather than offering quick fixes, such as recommending pre-workout supplements, which I feel can exacerbate burnout and post-exercise lethargy.

To better support my clients, I discovered Neurofit—a coaching method designed to regulate the nervous system and enhance session awareness. This approach ensures that clients leave feeling revitalized and balanced.

A regulated nervous system offers the following benefits:

  • Promotes a focused, energized, present, and relaxed state during sessions

  • Aids in rest and recovery post-session

  • Encourages healthy habits between sessions, such as proper diet, sleep, rest, and recovery.

Polyvagal Theory: An Introduction

Developed by Dr. Stephen Porges in 1994, Polyvagal Theory explores the role of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) in shaping our adaptive behavioral strategies. It identifies three main neural circuits that the ANS uses to shift between different physical states:

  1. Ventral Vagal Circuit

  2. Sympathetic Nervous System

  3. Dorsal Vagal Circuit

Each of these circuits plays a crucial role in the body's response to stress and danger. Understanding Polyvagal Theory has significant implications for comprehending stress, anxiety, and trauma. It highlights how the interplay between these neural circuits is essential for maintaining mental and physical health. When one circuit is over-activated, it can lead to issues such as anxiety, stress, and trauma.

What is Polyvagal Theory?

Polyvagal Theory further suggests that our physiological state greatly influences our behaviors and our experiences of the world. This process, known as neuroception, occurs outside of our conscious awareness and significantly impacts how we perceive and navigate our environment.

In essence, a balanced nervous system is vital for our mental and physical well-being.
